Sushi Recipe

How to easily make restaurant-quality sushi from the comfort of your kitchen.

Whenever I hang out with my four little cousins, they always ask me to take them out for sushi. To which I respond: "Do I look like I have sushi money?". This $30 recipe fed eight football-player sized tummies and Nu with more to spare.

Heres what you need for these delish California Rolls:
  • 2 cups of sushi rice
  • 1 tablespoon white rice wine vinegar
  • Nori seaweed sheets
  • Wasabi mustard
  • Imitation crab
  • Avocado (thinly sliced)
  • Julien cucumber
  • Sushi rolling mat
  • Saran wrap
  • Warm water
  • Ginger
  • Soy sauce

1. Cook the sushi rice per the instructions on the bag.
2. Drain and add rice wine vinegar to the rice.
3. Cool rice for about 2 hours or until room temperature.
(I cooled my rice in the bao holders in my cover pic)
4. Place saran wrap on sushi rolling mat.

5. Place Nori Seaweed sheet on saran wrap.

6. Dip your hand in warm water and place a thin layer of cooled rice onto seaweed.
***This will be a sticky situation.***
Leave a small margin of space at the end of each side.
***Try to make rice as even as possible. The thicker the rice, the thicker the roll***

7. CAREFULLY flip the sheet onto the saran wrap, rice side down.

8. Spread a thin layer of wasabi mayo at the top of the roll.

9. Add cucumber, avocado, and imitation crab meat on top of the wasabi mayo.

10. Roll and press until you have a sushi burrito and remove saran wrap.

Chop and serve!

This recipe was almost too easy, so I'm definitely adding it to my rotation of weekly recipes. Its also a fun bonding activity so I recommend doing it with some pals. If you guys decide to try it please let me know your variations of the recipe!
