A Nail Date with Fani

Fani, the Chicago-born, Atlanta-raised creative is the mind behind @originalfani.  You may know him from being around Atlanta's rap scene, especially with his collective Two-9. We've run into each other countless times, usually at concerts, but we've never had the chance to sit down and have a a conversation.

His storefront is on Peters Street adjacent to 2 Chainz business, Escobar. The store was under renovation to prepare for A3C. Even with all the dust, the atmosphere still allowed creative energy to flow.

Fani is heavily influenced by Japanese culture and design and draws inspiration from the likes of X-Large clothing, Fuct, Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Undercover. Japanese brands focus on the concept of perfecting ONE item, and for Fani it is the Fan-dana.

This was Fani's first manicure.

What are your strengths?
I'm creative and...hm... I'm a leader and I can just like, build situations...like whoever I'm workin with...the people around me...I can help them grow in different areas of their life. I can take initiative to make things better.

Whats the last gift you gave?
Probably my mom I think. I took my mom shopping.

If you could have a dinner date with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
Hiroshi Fujiwara

If you could be any color of crayon, what color of crayon would you be?
Probably like a navy blue or a denim blue...yea a denim blue. Um I feel like that color defines me..its like black...its dark but it still has color. Navy blue is up there in my favorite colors along with red...colors you see in my collection. I really like shades of blue in general.

Who is your favorite person?
Eh...I have to think.
I think my grandparents.
They're just honest, good people. They've always been there and just good people at the end of the day. That's the kind of people I like to work with -- honest, good people.

Do you know any songs by heart?
I'd have to hear the song in the background, but if I had to go right now, no music, it would probably be something by [Young] Thug.

What three objects do you value the most?
My wallet, my computer, and my keys.

Who is the kindest person you know?
My grandpa

What's the weirdest thing you've seen in someone else's house?
Probably a dirty toilet...or a [permanently] sheet-less bed.

What do you think is a waste of money?
Cigarettes and sometimes alcohol...but ima still buy alcohol.

What keeps you up at night?
The end of the world.

Do you believe in conspiracy theories?
A lot of nights I'll go to YouTube and look up conspiracy theories. Right now, I'm really into the one about space travel. I don't feel like we ever landed on the moon or went to space. I don't believe in satellites.
